Hunter finishes 8th at Masters

Riding the momentum of the win at the Waste Management Open in Phoenix, it appeared that Hunter Mahan was on the hunt to add “Masters Champion” to his already impressive resume, as he finished one of golf’s most prestigious tournaments this weekend two spots (8th place) above where he placed last year (10th place). The 18th ranked golfer in the world is moving in the right direction and playing solid and consistent golf.

Hunter started the Masters off great, shooting a -1, 71 both Thursday and Friday before really turning his game up on Saturday where he finished the third round of the tournament -4 to bring him to -6 through fifty four holes. A self-proclaimed “streaky putter,” Hunter brought his “A game” as only three players finished the fourth round taking fewer puts than Hunter (28).

Hunter wasn’t distracted by anything on Sunday where he finished the tournament by turning in a solid -1, 71 to finish -7 and tied for 8th place on the weekend, his best finish ever at the Masters Tournament. Although he didn’t win, Hunter continues to improve and looks forward to carrying this momentum through the rest of the 2010 PGA tour and will continue the season at The Players’ Championship, being held May 6-9 at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.

My son, Nick Williams, played golf for Trinity High School, and played in a couple tournaments with Hunter, though never in the same foursome. I knew when I saw Hunter’s swing that he was a great ball striker.

I played for Oregon State University long ago.

It’s fun to watch Hunter’s success!

H, Great going in Phoenix and nice work at Augusta. We want to know how to get you more time in front of the camera! We watch and wait and you do not get the time you deserve. We hope that changes for you and us in the very near future. I am sharpening my game to try and give you and run for your money at Trump in LA! Best wishes and stay healthy for 2010.
